Sign-Ups For ‘Fortnite Battle Royale’ Mobile Beta On Android Are Live, Here’s How To Get It

One of the biggest games in the world is finally making its way to one of the biggest platforms in the world. The Fortnite: Battle Royale launch for Android is nearly upon us, developer Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney announced at the Samsung Unpacked event today. Just like with the iOS version, things are going to start with a closed beta that will gradually roll out to more and more Android customers over the coming days. Here’s how to sign up for your chance to play Fortnite: Battle Royale on your Android Phone. To start with, you need to go to Fortnite.com/Android. That’s where you’ll find the sign-up forms, and that’s where you’ll want to enter your email for a chance to be among the first to try the game on Android. This first round of beta invites will only be available to Samsung customers with supported devices, which in this case means a Samsung Galaxy S7 or better. That’s just for the first round, however: it wouldn’t be a very effective beta if it only tested performance on a limited suite of devices. Rounds of invites will be going out over the next few days for players with other supported phones.ANDROID BETA INITIALLY WILL WORK ON THE FOLLOWING DEVICES:Samsung Galaxy: S7 / S7 Edge, S8 / S8+, S9 / S9+, Note 8, Note 9, Tab S3, Tab S4 Google: Pixel / Pixel XL, Pixel 2 / Pixel 2 XL, Asus: ROG Phone, Zenfone 4 Pro, 5Z, V Essential: PH-1 Huawei: Honor 10, Honor Play, Mate 10 / Pro, Mate RS, Nova 3, P20 / Pro, V10 LG: G5, G6, G7 ThinQ, V20, V30 / V30+ Nokia: 8 OnePlus: 5 / 5T, 6 Razer: Phone Xiaomi: Blackshark, Mi 5 / 5S / 5S Plus, 6 / 6 Plus, Mi 8 / 8 Explorer / 8SE, Mi Mix, Mi Mix 2, Mi Mix 2S, Mi Note 2 ZTE: Axon 7 / 7s, Axon M, Nubia / Z17 / Z17s, Nubia Z11
See the FAQ for the list of more compatible devices.
If you get an invitation, you’ll receive instructions on how to download and install the game. Fortnite, unlike the majority of other games on Android, will not be available on Google Play. To install it you’ll need to go to Epic’s website, put in your Epic account and download the installer. Epic’s software will handle it from there.
Take note that betas can be buggy, and anyone playing the game in this early stages should know that things won’t be perfect on a technical level. a lot of the experience and UI-oriented changes have been hammered out through a few months of IOS release, But Android is a much bigger platform with a lot more considerations, and we can expect some technical improvements to start rolling out after the beta has been in people’s hands for a little bit.
After you download, go to open it. If you haven’t already enabled side-loading on your device, it will ask you to do so. That means it will take you to a settings menu where you can give the phone permission to enable apps downloaded through chrome. If you want to run Fortnite, you’ll need to give it access.
